Take over or improve an existing product

When a previous developer has left, or the product has grown faster than its code, we start by understanding what you already have. A codebase assessment shows the risks and the order to deal with them, so you can decide what to fix, what to keep, and what to build next.

(01)

Sound familiar?

  • The original developer or agency is no longer available, and nobody fully understands the code.
  • Every release breaks something that used to work.
  • The product needs new features, but the existing structure makes each change slow and risky.
  • Libraries, frameworks, or servers are out of date and becoming a security or app store problem.

What we take on

Codebase assessment

We review the architecture, dependencies, build and deployment setup, and known problem areas, then report the risks and a recommended order of work.

Takeover and handover

We take over repositories, servers, and accounts in a controlled way and document what we find, so the knowledge stays with your company.

Stabilization

Fixing the defects and fragile areas behind outages and failed releases, and adding logging and monitoring where they are missing.

Modernization

Upgrading outdated frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure step by step while the product stays in service.

New features

Once the foundation is stable, we continue the roadmap with a team that now knows the code.

(03)

How we start

  1. Share access

Repository and environment access, plus any existing documentation. If some of it is missing, we start with what is available.

  2. Assessment and priorities

We review the code and explain the findings: what is risky, what can stay, and what to do first.

  3. Stabilize, then build

Urgent fixes come first; improvements and new features follow in the agreed order.

From a client review

“It was a complex project. Even though it was hard to understand the codebase at the beginning, the partner quickly analyzed it and helped set clear priorities, so we were able to keep things on track without delays. What stood out most was that when issues came up, they didn’t just give a quick fix. They explained multiple options and the reasoning behind each one. Communication was clear, and they regularly shared detailed progress updates, which made collaboration very smooth. If I had to point out one downside, it would be that when the schedule was tight, they sometimes aimed for a bit more perfection than necessary. However, the upside was that the final quality was excellent. Overall, they were responsible, highly professional, and I’d definitely want to work with them again on the next project.”
